Modernising, Managing and
Innovating Stroke Services

- implementing the stroke strategy

Thursday 3rd July 2008, Austin Court, Birmingham

The national stroke strategy was published in December 2007. The strategy sets out a framework of quality markers for raising the quality of stroke prevention, treatment and longterm care and support.

This one day event will examine through a series of case studies, a number of these quality markers and the key challenges that need to be met in providing effective specialist stroke care in hospitals and the community.

All members of the multidisciplinary team will find it highly relevant and informative.

Issues to be covered include:

Conquering the challenges of stroke
Developing and maintaining effective stroke networks – the new vision for care
Compare and contrast different network models
Developing the workforce to maximise the skills and competency of the multidisciplinary team
Assessing stroke unit quality
Commissioning world class services
Developing innovative hospital stroke care
Providing patient centred rehabilitation services and ongoing support
